Meet Stacey Belle

Hat: 2020 Sloan Straw Hat

Stacey Belle is a woman we admire + love for her courage. She influences those around her as she continues to fight for justice. Stacey is proud to wear many hats in her life and always wears them fearlessly. 

What are the roles or hats you lead in your life?

I’m lucky to have a bunch of different hats to wear. I’m a daughter, a sister, a dancer, a coach, a friend, an aunt, a graphic designer, but most importantly, I’m black- and though I’m proud, it’s always been a hard hat to wear. 

Which hat do you find most rewarding?

The hat of friendship is definitely the most rewarding. Having my family so far away in CT, makes my friendships that much more important. They’ve become my family, and knowing that I have them makes me feel like I am home. 

Which hat do you find the most challenging and what do you do to embrace them? 

My “being black in Utah” hat is probably my most challenging hat to wear. The Black Lives Matter movement has given me the opportunity to use my voice, and help other women who have gone through similar experiences as I have, due to the color of our skin. 

What hats are least known about you?

My business hat is one that is least known about me. I am in the works of someday creating a hair cream and oil that will help other black women feel beautiful at their most natural state. 

Who or what inspires you?

Oh man! I look up to and aspire to be like so many people I have met in my life! I don’t think I can pinpoint exactly one person, or thing because I feel moved by a few different things. Right now, the BLM movement has been very inspiring. I’ve become vulnerable to an audience about experiences that I have gone through, that have been hard to move on from. I never thought I would have the opportunity to let people I don’t even know into my world the way I have these last few weeks. 

Favorite Gigi Pip style/ color + why?

Gigi Pip has some of the most beautiful hats! I love the Tall Billie Fedora in Ivory! It’s gorgeous, whenever I see it my stomach hurts because it’s stunning! I love how it shows off my skin and can pair it with anything I own!
